The wish list: A suite of family oriented spaces on the First floor. The existing Living room was a formal space less suited to family events and was situated away from the Kitchen. The addition of the Sunroom would be the new center of activity for the family and their children. The Sunroom was planned with doors to the Kitchen and to the patio to create continuity between the interior spaces and the outdoors. The owner wanted her Kitchen to be a comfortable gathering place for her family and a place to entertain friends. Two separate islands were designed to allow easy access to all parts of the Kitchen. One island has a spacious breakfast bar that seats four, the other, a secondary sink with built-in ice maker and wine refrigerator. The main Kitchen cabinetry and the glass door hutch are maple wood painted a warm white and glazed. The islands and pantry cabinetry are alder wood in a rich stain with a glaze that adds depth to the grain.
