Wauwatosa Transitional Kitchen Remodel

The kitchen in this charming 1922 brick Tudor had been updated at some point prior to our Client buying the house. A previous remodel omitted one window, redirected a back doorway, left 30” of counter space and dishwasher that worked better as storage for pots and pans rather than cleaning them. She wanted a kitchen befitting the age and character of the house, so new cabinet details needed to compliment those of existing built-ins and millwork. A tiled arch accenting the range was requested and subway tile was selected for its period look. Painted recessed cabinets inset into cabinet frame evoke an original cabinet feel. As in other rooms, displaying books and collectables needed to be integrated. Glass cabinet doors for all of the wall cabinets are organized and down lighted. Flanking a new wall of windows are two sets of book shelves.
